Our Business

Aviomar Adventures as we know it today flourished with the desire to show the world the costumes and values offered by the Mexican culture. Our history begins in 1969, with the foundation of a Travel Agency whose purpose was to offer unique experiences and excursions to the Mayan Archeological sites of Chichen Itza, Uxmal, Puuc Route, Museums, and any other places of interest in the Southeast of Mexico. The first office was inaugurated in Merida, Yucatan with only six employees. During this time, our main customers were European groups that arrived by air. The company decided to broaden the market by involving the creation and promotion of cruises as mass tourism; operating in the Port of Progreso, Yucatan.

In 1970, The Eastern Steamship Company decided to include Cozumel in the itinerary of their boats; beginning the success of the Mexican Caribbean as a destination and providing us with an expansion to Cozumel, the number one destination in arrivals of the cruise industry.

Aviomar’s rich heritage and value strategically define who we are and what we do, ensuring a position as a company leader in its field within our country. Thanks to its geographical privileged location to the southeast of the country Aviomar Adventours has a presence in the following ports in the Mexican Republic: Cozumel, Costa Maya, Playa del Carmen and Progreso, Yucatan.

For more than 50 years, Aviomar has won first place in the Tour Operators market in the Mexican Caribbean. Operating excursions with 18 different cruise lines, among the most important in the world such as: Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Princess, Celebrity, and Costa. Offering a catalog of more than 150 different products from adventure trips to archaeological tours and cultural experiences, providing services to thousands of passengers per year.

Our Venues

Mayan Bee Sanctuary

The Mayan Bee Sanctuary is a project that aims to teach and create awareness about the importance the Melipona Bees have in the environment, traditions, and culture. The stingless bees or Xunan Kab in Maya, represent a group of highly social insects, with perennial colonies and inhabitants of tropical and subtropical zones. Beekeeping is a very important activity, by means of which we have the privilege of sharing a Mayan tradition to the world. The Sanctuary helps individuals visualize beekeeping within a rational and sustainable context of environmental resources. These bees are in danger of extinction as well, due to the massive disappearance of forests and lack of knowledge. By educating society we hope to create mindfulness towards the conservation of this species.

The Mayan Cacao Company

The Mayan Cacao Company, much more than a museum, it is an interactive site to explore the history of the world´s most popular food: chocolate. Chocolate opens the door to discuss pre-hispanic history such as religious matters, currency and sweet legacy. This hands on experience and tastings are sprinkled with tradition that stimulate sensations in a fun and entertaining way! Come educate your palate and rediscover a new way to learn about the past!

Our Social Responsibility

Aviomar Adventours corporate social responsibility policy has been developed in line with our mission, our business concept and our values. We are committed to doing business ethically and with integrity as we recognize the connection between the health of our company and the various economic, environmental and social factors.
